Joannie McC cycle2SantiagoI'm Joannie McCutcheon, and was an IT consultant and now donate my IT services to  the Edinburgh Centre for Neuro Oncology, Western General Hospital, Edinburgh.
I was diagnosed with 2 Brain Tumours 6 years ago in the Netherlands.  They are slow growing presently so don't cause me much bother.

I have friends, old and new that have cancer, some of them have 'gained their wings' whilst others try to live as normal a life as is possible.

Maggie's helps people to live "as normal a life as is possible", and exists on the genorosity of people like you.

There are many people like me that need Maggie's, whether it be a Cancer patient, family member or carer.

Please give if you are able and think of me as I cycle/walk up those mountains in Spain!

Thank you in advance, I very much appreciate you reading my site

What is a Maggie's Centre?

It's a place to turn to for help with any of the problems, small or large, associated with cancer.

For me, it's like a second home,

For me, Maggie's is all about what Maggie herself said:

'Above all what matters,  is not to lose the JOY OF LIVING in the
fear of dying

I am cycling for Maggie's Caring Cancer Centres in a small way to "pay back" all the care and support  I have received  (and continue to receive) since I came back to the UK from the Netherlands 4 years ago.  It's also a journey of discovery for myself.

Through Maggie's I continue to grow whilst in the midst of cancer,  and continue to live life to the full.

This site is just a glimpse through the doorway of my journey.

I will finish in Santiago de Compostella in Spain cycling the Camino Frances starting at Leon which is one of the Pilgrim's ways of St. James from the 9th Century.  Planned starting date is the end of May/beginning June and will take around 9 days.

Maggie's is building a Spanish centre in Barcelona.  I am not planning to go there this time,  but a very good friend, Darren Faill, cycled there from his home in Newcastle and arrived in Barcelona yesterday.  CONGRATULATIONS D.

Darren has been spreading the Maggie's message, waving the flag, whilst fundraising.  Read in his website why he has done it for Maggie's.

His website is below.  CyclingSpain2011.

He has given me the inspiration, guts and strength to do this, so thank you D.
